Crusades

The Crusades were a series of religious wars carried out by Christian crusaders from Europe during the Middle Ages, beginning in 1095 CE when Pope Urban II called on Christians to reclaim the Holy Land from Muslim control. Over the next two centuries, nine major Crusades brought European knights, nobles, and ordinary people to the Middle East in one of the most significant and consequential chapters in the history of Europe and the Islamic world.
